The Brazilian Symposium on Computer Networks (SBRC) is an annual event
promoted by the
Brazilian Computing Society (SBC) and
the
National Computer Network Laboratory (LARC).
Currently in its 24
th edition, SBRC has become the largest academic
event on Computer Networks and Distributed Systems in Brazil, being the
large event promoted by the SBC, with the exception of the annual
congress which contemplates all fields of computer science.
The number of participants per year varies from 800 to 1,200, and the
paper acceptance rate is around 30%, with well over 200 submissions
registered in the past few years. The 24
th SBRC, will take place in
Curitiba, the capital of Parana state, from May 29 to June 2 2006. This
year the symposium has 3 General Co-Chairs, each from one of the 3
largest universities of the state:
UFPR,
PUC-PR,
and
CEFET-PR now UTFPR.
The main purpose of the Brazilian Symposium on Computer Networks is to
be a forum for presenting and discussing research results and practical
experience reports in Computer Networks and Distributed Systems, both
for the academic community as well as for the industry and government.
The symposium is spread over five days and activities include: technical
sessions, tutorials, short courses, and panels, in addition to industry
presentations. Besides the symposium itself, several workshops are
organized at the same event, some of them already traditional events, such
as the Workshop of the Brazilian National Research and Education Network
(WRNP), Workshop on Fault Tolerant Computing (WTF), Workshop on Real Time
Computing (WTR), Workshop on Digital TV (WDTV), Workshop on P2P Systems
(WP2P), and the Workshop on Network Operations and Management (WGRS).
